I love poetry, quotes and quote art! I can spend hours on Pinterest looking for that one quote to perfectly describe my mood. The writers behind this word art are often big names such as Tolkien (“Not all those who wander are lost”) and Antoine de Saint-Exupéry (“On ne voit bien qu´avec le coeur, l´essentiel est invisible pour les yeux“). But have you heard of these Instagram-poets and Pinterest-artists?

If you cannot be a poet, be the poem, it says on her seemingly simple website. But after a few clicks you discover the most wonderful pieces of word-art. Erin Hanson is 19 years old and lives in Australia. Her poems breathe a dreamy atmosphere. I love how easily her poems pull you in, creating a setting in your mind. Equally beautiful is the way the flowy sentences describe feelings from happy to sad. The quote that pops up most on Pinterest is: “What if I fall? Oh but my darling, what if you fly?” Love it.

Lang Leav
Another Australian writer is Lang Leav. A quick search on Pinterest leaves you with a LONG list of the most beautiful poems. They often look like they come straight from the first page of a book. Her work displays a perfect mix of childlike innocence and romantic nostalgia with which she addresses all possible topics. A lot of her work has been published and she even has her own fashion label!

On Facebook I discovered N., a Dutch-speaking poet. Niels posts the funniest and most clever poems in Dutch, giving them extra character with his typewriter. He calls it: “bite-sized poetry. Because rhymes can very well be a meal, but sometimes you’re just not that hungry.” His poetry is easy on the ears, sometimes very romantic and most of all very Dutch.

Een andere Australische schrijfster en kunstenaar is Lang Leav. Een kleine zoektocht op haar naam in Pinterest levert een lange reeks aan de meest prachtige gedichten op. Vaak zien ze eruit als de eerste pagina van een boek. Ze schrijft met een kinderlijke onschuld en romantische nostalgie waarmee ze allerlei onderwerpen aansnijdt. Veel van Lang’s werk is gepubliceerd en ze heeft zelfs haar eigen kledinglijn!

Al surfend op Facebook kwam ik N. tegen, een poëet van Nederlandse bodem. Niels post op zijn Facebookpagina de leukste Nederlandstalige versjes die hij extra karakter geeft door ze op een typmachine uit te werken. Hij noemt het: “Poëzie voor de snelle trek. Omdat rijmelarij best een maaltijd kan zijn, en je soms gewoon niet zo’n honger hebt.” De versjes liggen lekker in het gehoor, zijn soms erg romantisch en vooral heerlijk hollands.
